She revealed that she use AI to write parts of her novel\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/chatgpt-helped-with-my-novel-says-japanese-literary-prize-winner-lp2tg8dg2\"><em>The Times<\/em><\/a>). She revealed about 5% of the book was verbatim sentences she generated using AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This wasn&#8217;t the first time AI has won a top prize either. The winner of 2022&#8217;s Colorado State Fair&#8217;s prize for digital art also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/artificial-intelligence-art-wins-colorado-state-fair-180980703\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.smithsonianmag.com\/smart-news\/artificial-intelligence-art-wins-colorado-state-fair-180980703\/\">turned out to be AI-generated<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3245725\/chinese-professor-used-ai-write-science-fiction-novel-then-it-won-national-award?campaign=3245725&amp;module=perpetual_scroll_0&amp;pgtype=article\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/news\/china\/science\/article\/3245725\/chinese-professor-used-ai-write-science-fiction-novel-then-it-won-national-award?campaign=3245725&amp;module=perpetual_scroll_0&amp;pgtype=article\">Nor is it the first time AI has won a writing prize<\/a>. Journalism professor Shen Yang at Beijing\u2019s Tsinghua University wanted to write a science fiction novel about the metaverse and humanoid robots. The AI ended up generating his entire book \u2013 which then took out a national science fiction award Jiangsu Science Writers Association . And it&#8217;s not half bad.
