Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski says it has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/amp\/2025\/05\/14\/klarna-ceo-says-ai-helped-company-shrink-workforce-by-40percent.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/amp\/2025\/05\/14\/klarna-ceo-says-ai-helped-company-shrink-workforce-by-40percent.html\">shrunk it&#8217;s workforce by 40% by using AI<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Klarna has changed it&#8217;s tone. They started re-hiring real customer support people after it <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/klarna-openai-humans-ai-back\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/klarna-openai-humans-ai-back\">realized it&#8217;s AI customer service agents weren&#8217;t cutting it<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carnegie Mellon tried to staff a fake software company full of AI employees &#8211; and <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/professors-company-ai-agents\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/professors-company-ai-agents\">it went very poorly<\/a> (paper here: <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/2412.14161\">https:\/\/arxiv.org\/pdf\/2412.14161<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is estimated that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrdive.com\/news\/leaders-who-laid-off-workers-due-to-ai-regretted-it\/746643\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hrdive.com\/news\/leaders-who-laid-off-workers-due-to-ai-regretted-it\/746643\/\">4 in 10 business leaders have laid off employees<\/a> as a result of deploying AI \u2014 and of those, 55% admit they made the wrong decisions about it, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/55-of-businesses-admit-wrong-decisions-in-making-employees-redundant-when-bringing-ai-into-the-workforce-302440611.html\">a recent survey<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI has it&#8217;s place, but knowing what those jobs are (and which are not good for AI) is the magic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke says that employees\/managers must prove jobs can&#8217;t be done by AI before asking for more headcount.
