(videos are at the bottom of this entry)<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/belltolls.jpg?w=200\"  \/>\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/one.jpg?w=200\"  \/>\u00a0 <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/two.jpg?w=200\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>What an amazing concert.\u00a0 I was having flashbacks to my teen years to when I would listen to Metallica with friends on our way to farm jobs.\u00a0 Never would I have thought that 15 years later, I would be close enough to read their tattoos.\u00a0 My ears are still ringing!<\/p>\n<p><u>The Good:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Second row aisle seat &#8211; so close I could read their tattoos &#8211; epic! (all for $65!) Could..almost&#8230;touch&#8230;the gods of rock&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>It was Metallica as you&#8217;ve always known them.\u00a0 About half the songs they played were classics &#8211; and they played them really well. So well done that I pulled out my old CD&#8217;s to listen to them again.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s the set list:<br \/>\n01. That Was Just Your Life<br \/>\n02. The End Of The Line<br \/>\n03. Nothing Else Matters<br \/>\n15. Enter Sandman<br \/>\n&#8211; &#8211; -Encore- &#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<br \/>\n16. Last Caress<br \/>\n17. Stone Cold Crazy<br \/>\n19. Seek and Destroy<\/li>\n<li>Energy of the concert was amazing &#8211; crowd was great, fire effects were great, lighting and stage was really well done.<\/li>\n<li>Next day you can download your show! &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.livemetallica.com\/live-music\/0,10\/Metallica-mp3-flac-download-3-18-2004-Rose-Garden-Portland-OR.html\" target=\"_blank\">Go here to download<\/a> all the individual mp3&#8217;s of any concert for $10<\/li>\n<li>No &#8216;front&#8217; stage &#8211; they all moved around the stage and played at different locations.\u00a0 So there wasn&#8217;t a bad front seat anywhere in the front &#8211; very well executed, even had a rotating drum set.\u00a0 I had each of the band members right in front of me at one point.<\/li>\n<li>Surrounded by VIPs &#8211; I think the reason I got my amazing ticket was it was an unused VIP ticket that opened at noon the day before the concert.\u00a0 I was surrounded by people with VIP and &#8216;band pass&#8217; badges. Was that just Hetfield&#8217;s wife I saw?\u00a0 No, really&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>The Ugly<\/u>:\u00a0 Crowd control &#8211; the two guards in charge of our section fail miserably.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There was a small mosh\/GA area below stage level in front of us.\u00a0 About 1\/2 way through the concert in a 5 minute span, about 5-10 people started individually rushing and jumping the fence in our section.\u00a0 It got bad enough at one point I really feared a general rush\/riot might be coming.\u00a0 People were tackled by guards, idiots refused to take being thrown out like men.\u00a0 Fortunately the staff popped over with a bunch of bouncers and got things under control &#8211; but it ruined two songs while the local theatrics were attended to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>The Priceless:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 old rockers that were clearly not all there (about 40-50, and looked like Ozzie clones) decided to light up huge blunties &#8211; only 2 seconds later to realize they were standing right by the guards.\u00a0 Bye bye guys. \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>The lower mosh\/GA area &#8211; the most violent offender award goes to a girl in 80&#8217;s pink shorts and yellow tank top.\u00a0 Man, guards had to come in twice and calm her down.<\/li>\n<li>Friend of mine was up in 300 level &#8211; and when a guy got caught toking up, instead of getting caught &#8211; flicked the bluntie over the wall to the crowd below.\u00a0 Somebody down below either got an early christmas present, or a roach burn. \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li>The fellows that jumped the railing, then got owned by the mosh guards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">The Awesome:<\/span><br \/>\nWanna see how a concert is from the front?\u00a0 Here&#8217;s clips from a guy using camera video that was sitting right near me.\u00a0 I gave him my email and he was good enough to give me copies.\u00a0 Thanks man!<\/p>\n<p>For Whom the Bell Tolls:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/video\/Metallica%20-%20For%20Whom%20The%20Bell%20Tolls%20-%20Portland,%20Or%2011-01-08.avi\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/belltools.jpg?w=640\" style=\"width: 103px; height: 77px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ride the Lightning:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/video\/Metallica%20-%20Ride%20The%20Lightning%20-%20Portland,%20Or%2011-01-08.avi\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/081101_01.jpg?w=100\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/video\/Metallica%20-%20ONE%20-%20Portland,%20Or%2011-01-08.avi\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/one.jpg?w=100\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nothing Else Matters:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/video\/Metallica%20-%20Nothing%20Else%20Matters%20-%20Portland,%20Or%2011-01-08.avi\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mattfife.net\/special\/Metallica\/images\/nothingelse.jpg?w=100\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(Movies are AVI)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wow!\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 Wow!
