The game Hellblade: Senua&#8217;s Sacrifice sought to capture experiences of those with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eylUOJgs9Ig\">mental illness &#8211; especially schizophrenia<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The Insight Project (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/theinsightproject.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Insight Project<\/a> is a partnership with the game studio Ninja Theory and  clinical neuroscientists. I believe so. The ability to simulate the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"experiences of schitzophrenia (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/schizophrenia\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20354443\" target=\"_blank\">experiences of schitzophrenia<\/a> (a disease that often sets in later in life) could help people recognize the symptoms and get treatment before their condition deteriorates. Many conditions such as phobias and anxiety are often treated with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"exposure therapy (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/ptsd-guideline\/patients-and-families\/exposure-therapy\" target=\"_blank\">exposure therapy<\/a>. A virtual reality environment might be the perfect place to set up environments in which people can be safely be exposed to their fears &#8211; with all variables controlled. People that need help with social anxiety could be treated with simulated situations to help them learn good interaction skills.
