I remember going to Rome and having pretty much free reign to walk around the whole Colosseum. It looks like now you need to reserve your slot far in advanced <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.coopculture.it\/en\/tickets\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.coopculture.it\/en\/tickets\/\" target=\"_blank\">through a new CoopCulture website that lets you buy tickets in advance<\/a>. In fact, it&#8217;s the ONLY way to get tickets for the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Colosseum, and several other key cultural sites. There is no longer on-site ticket sales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also appears that the much vaunted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scavi.va\/content\/scavi\/en\/prenotazione.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.scavi.va\/content\/scavi\/en\/prenotazione.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scavi tours under St Peter&#8217;s<\/a> also have online information now as well, but it appears they still prefer a phone call or fax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.tacdn.com\/media\/attractions-splice-spp-674x446\/06\/6f\/21\/07.jpg?w=640&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rome is a lovely town for visiting &#8211; but it&#8217;s always interesting to see how over-tourism has changed things over the years.
