Truck Astrology is so good

MonroeWorld, takes an XBOX 360 binary file and recompile it for Windows. With 4 simple prompts, he has it working and is already adding new features (keyboard support, windowed running, etc). He even unlocks the program – which is easy when you have the compilable source.
He knows almost nothing about coding.
This kind of work would have likely taken a group of experienced devs with source access for the original game at least 3 months to port and release. He does it here in about 2 hours with very little knowledge.
Granted, this is not releasable software. It has not been validate, checked for security issues, etc. But this shows how a game company could potentially recompile every game they have ever made in their library for any platform and update it with just one guy working in the morning, and an agent running validation passes for a few days.
This is where the software world is. Anyone can do this. Any one person can do this.
Besides recompiling a game, Claude completely cloned Hollow Knight in under an hour. This video does a great job capturing what this experience is like for those of us in this industry. For those of us that have been developers for 20+ years, this is orders of magnitude beyond the rate of change we have ever seen. Whole teams of people can be replaced with just one person and an agent. Games, apps, and software you had to pay $100’s of dollars for can simply be made for the cost of the tokens.
Not a single second of my work day is the same as it was a year ago. I have not written more than a few line of code myself in months at this point. All of the software that I used to use regularly, I am replacing with my own custom software that I created with AI.
I’ve seen some local Portland talent before, but Brazier Julius takes the cake.
Anthropic’s IPO filing is revealing tons of juicy information
It’s long been known that people trying to remain anonymous have been betrayed by the silent hum of the electrical grid that gets unintentionally recorded in your audio and video clips. But now, there’s an even new one. You can be betrayed by planes going by – even if they are pretty much inaudible to you. The sound even travels through walls.
colsto shows us how anyone can isolate the sound of planes you have inaudibly recorded in your voice or video clips can reveal your location. He uses a filter to isolate the doppler curve of planes, uses open data sources to get flight paths and flight data, then examines the doppler curves of the plane passing to reconstruct enough of the plane’s probable path near you to find matches. And it’s shockingly accurate.
Even more frightening – you usually cannot even hear the planes in the recordings. Poor quality cell phone mics and data compression, running high pass and other filters usually doesn’t remove them either.
With the proliferation of AI/LLM models analyzing the Linux kernel, there has been a surge in the number of CVEs per kernel release. A usual number is around 500 CVEs fixed per release, releases are now approaching 2,000 CVEs fixed.

SemiAnalysis does an amazing disassembly and analysis of Intel’s Panther Lake. They go over all the new tech: backside power delivery (BSPDN), gate-all-around (GAA) transistors, and 18A RibbonFET. It’s one of the best analysis’ I’ve seen of modern CPU process technology. (Reddit discussion)

Most items on the Internet Archive are downloadable, but some are not. Some you have to check out for a period of time and they don’t always have a download button.
Elementdavv created a Firefox plugin that adds that button back and it works pretty well.
If everything you know about AI was what you learned up to 6 months or more ago, you’ve missed the revolution. Better Stack summarizes a Linear AI report.
More people are ending their bug bounty programs. Most cite because there’s been a flood of AI generated bug reports.
Many early bug bounty programs cited a flood of worthless AI generated reports, but that is increasingly becoming less true. Curl originally stopped in January because of a flood of low-quality AI-generated submissions that was rarely a bug, but now the tide has turned and Curl’s Daniel Stenberg is now getting good quality bug reports. Everyone from Microsoft to the Linux have had dramatic 2x-10x increases in CVE fixes each release.
So, I suspect everyone is trying to absorb the mass of AI discovered bugs (Project Glasswing) and then we’ll likely return to a more normal bug bounty environment. That pre-supposes the number of bugs AI finds will actually decrease over the next few months…
